As a student at Pacific, Stephanie Luu ’20, PharmD, assistant clinical professor of pharmaceutics and medicinal chemistry, was fascinated by pharmacokinetics, the movement of drugs within the body, and pharmacodynamics, the biochemical and physiologic effects of drugs. She now has the opportunity to spark for the joy of learning through her role as a faculty member.

“My goal at Pacific is to motivate students’ learning and understanding of pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics by providing engaging, clinically-applicable examples,” said Dr. Luu. “I love the beautiful campus and student-centered learning environment that Pacific provides, along with the support and positive interactions from faculty.”

She is also looking forward to connecting with students through her role as a faculty advisor to the Rho Chi Honor Society Beta Omega chapter.

Dr. Luu earned a bachelor of science in biological sciences with a concentration in systems physiology from San Jose State University before coming to Pacific to earn her doctor of pharmacy (PharmD).

During her time at Pacific, she served as a research assistant for William K. Chan, PharmD, PhD, professor and chair of the Department of Pharmaceutics and Medicinal Chemistry. She was also involved in Pacific’s chapter of the California Society of Health-System Pharmacists, the Vietnamese Cancer Awareness, Research & Education Society (VN CARES) and the Medicare Part D Outreach Clinics. During health care outreach events she helped serve Vietnamese-speaking patients by serving as a translator.

Her hobbies include hiking and tending to her plant nursery. A dog lover, she enjoys spending time with her family’s dogs. She enjoys baking and likes watching baking competition shows to get inspired to attempt to bake elaborate creations. She traveled to Japan in 2016 and hopes to visit again soon.
