For Michael Dimont ’12, PharmD the pharmacy profession runs in the family. Both Dr. M. Dimont and his wife, Elaine Quinne Trinh-Dimont ’12, PharmD, earned their doctor of pharmacy (PharmD) degrees from University of the Pacific in 2012. His brother, Gregory Paul Dimont ’16, PharmD, is also an alumnus.

Dr. M. Dimont is currently a pharmacist at Adventist Health in Hanford. He was recognized as the 2019 Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience (APPE) Preceptor of the Year for the Fresno region. He enjoys the opportunity to be a part of the development and training of future pharmacists. “Being a preceptor not only give me the opportunity to be a part of shaping the profession’s future, it also helps me to expand my own horizon on pharmacy,” said Dr. M. Dimont. “Precepting gives me the opportunity to learn, as well as teach.” He shared how rewarding it is to watch students develop the skillset they will use throughout their careers.

He encourages PharmD students to embrace the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. “You are entering a profession that is constantly changing and advancing,” he said. “Always keep an open mind, be adaptable and never pass up the opportunity to learn something new.”

His students admire his professionalism and appreciate his mentorship. Clifford A. Young, RPh, CGP, associate clinical professor and regional coordinator for Fresno, said, “Michael is a good guy. Pacific is very lucky to have the support from such a terrific preceptor.”
